Brake fluid is a vitally important part of the braking system. It transfers pressure from the brake pedal to the brakes at each wheel, which in turn stop the vehicle.
It comes in many specifications, determining the fluid’s performance under different conditions. Brake fluid with a specification lower than recommended by the manufacturer should never be used.
Vehicle manufacturers usually specify a brake fluid replacement schedule of around 24 months or 40,000km, whichever comes first.
