Eurocars Mazda sponsors Mini-Mos Marathon

Sydney Mazda dealer, Eurocars Mazda at Artarmon, has proudly added another community event to its annual list of community sponsorships – the Mini-Mos Marathon at Mosman.

Held in June, the Mini-Mos raised funds for Camp Quality and Mosman Public School.

More than 2,000 runners competed this year across three events – the 10km run, 5km run and the 2km Primary Inter-School Challenge. The race routes varied, incorporating many streets in the Mosman and Balmoral area.

“This was Eurocars Mazda’s first year sponsoring the Mini-Mos and we loved being part of it,” said Dealer Principal, Tim Garner.

“A large proportion of our luxury car clients come from Mosman. They come over to our Artarmon showroom to check out our high-end range of luxury models, including the Mazda CX-7 and CX-9, RX-8 and the MX-5 convertible.

“We are a family-run business and we enjoy being involved in our community. It’s important for successful enterprises such as Eurocars Mazda to give something back to the community and show our clients we’re proud to be servicing the north shore region.

“It’s also a feel-good thing for our team. We have a close-knit staff and work together on our community projects. We’ve been sponsoring Chatswood Bowling Club for 15 years and we also sponsor the Lane Cove Country Club Annual Pro-Am Charity Day,” he said.

“David Conway (Eurocars Mazda Used Vehicle Manager) and I usually have a hit at the Pro-Am and it’s great being out there with the locals, raising money for a good cause.

“David’s got a pretty impressive handicap at 13 - I don’t have one myself,” Mr Garner laughs.

Martin Dent won the Mini-Mos Men’s 10km event, tying the current course record of 30 minutes and 5 seconds. Lara Tamsett won the Women’s race at 35:17. Mitchell Ryan won the Men’s 5km race at 17:12 and Magda Karimali-Poulos won the Women’s event at 19:51.

In the 2km Primary Inter-School Challenge, Benjamin Moss won the Boy’s division and Amy Light won the Girl’s division.

Mr Garner congratulated all the runners in this year’s Mini-Mos and said the team at Eurocars Mazda was looking forward to sponsoring the event again in 2009.
